That is not ideal, especially if words exist in accented and unaccented form. Imagine doing that (using insert character in the menu) every time you wanted to type a capital letter!! the spell checker for the other language often picks up the need for accents, but using "insert character" or ALT+numbers is not a very helpful idea. and the keys for the accent shortcuts (`:',^ etc) all work my keyboard is fine - the ctrl key works to copy / paste / select all / etc. update 2004 of Windows 10 was just installed my Office 2019 updates come automatically so I am not aware when they come. They are SUPER HELPFUL to efficiently type when accents are needed. Normally these shortcuts work in Word and Outlook, but not in Excel or Powerpoint.
